Claude Code vs GPT-6 Astra for Making Videos: Which Should You Use?

Claude Code with Opus 5.5 and ChatGPT with GPT-6 Astra make videos the same way underneath: both write Remotion code that renders to MP4, so the graphics they produce have the same ceiling. The choice comes down to the job. If you are cutting and captioning footage you already shot, Astra fits better, because it is built to operate your computer and can work across files, apps and plugins. If you are building motion graphics from a brief and want a code project you can reuse, Claude Code is the simpler setup and costs less per token through the API.
The Claude side below comes from a hands-on test on October 7, 2026. The Astra side comes from OpenAI's announcement, Remotion's plugin documentation and published walkthroughs.
